2018 Annual Awards Dinner: Winners & Nominees

The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance’s (LVGEA) 2018 Annual Awards Dinner will take place on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Aria Resort & Casino. Below is the full list of winners and nominees who will be honored during the LVGEA’s Annual Awards Dinner. Leadership Award Honoree:
Recognizes a business or community leader whose vision, influence, inclusiveness and skill have significantly impacted the economy.

  • Winner: Steve Hill, LVCVA President and CEO
    Steve is the new CEO and president of the LVCVA. Previous to this position, however, he played an important role in economic development for Nevada as the director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). In 2011, Steve was appointed by Governor Sandoval and has shown tremendous leadership in furthering the growth and impact of the statewide economy through business retention and expansion. Under his leadership, GOED created “Moving Nevada Forward”, a plan for diversifying the state’s economy that reflected his vision for Nevada’s future. Steve has played an influential part in bringing businesses like Tesla, Faraday Future, Barclaycard, Apple and Hyperloop to the state. These projects have brought and are projected to continue creating thousands of jobs and bolster the state’s economy. Furthermore, Steve led GOED in turning new technology-based industries into economic development opportunities such as unmanned aerial and autonomous vehicles, water technologies, and personalized medicine.

Innovation Award Nominees:
Recognizes a business or community organization whose breakthrough achievements in product and service development, technology and infrastructure, research and development, or public policy have significantly impacted the economy. The winner will be announced at the event.

  • Nominee: Aptiv

  • Nominee: Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada

Job Creation Award Winner:
Recognizes a business that has expanded or relocated to the Greater Las Vegas market, contributing to the growth and future of the regional economy through the creation of new, high-quality jobs for residents.

  • Winner: Scientific Games
    As a global leader in the gaming and lottery industries, Scientific Games aims to create the best experience for consumers. The company employs approximately 9,500 worldwide and relocated its headquarters from New York City to Las Vegas in 2015. Having further expanded since then, Scientific Games has created hundreds of jobs for Greater Las Vegas, strengthening the region’s position as a global industry leader in gaming and gaming manufacturing. Partnership Award Winner:
Recognizes a business or community organization whose collaborative efforts have helped to enhance community engagement, increase awareness of issues and policies, and bring together a diverse group of people to strengthen economic development activities in Greater Las Vegas.

  • Winner: Council of Chambers
    As an extension of efforts to foster and facilitate economic growth and vitality in Greater Las Vegas, the LVGEA convenes a Council of Chambers in order to increase collaboration and build consensus around high-level priorities affecting the business community in the region. This group is made up by the LVGEA, Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, Asian Chamber of Commerce, Latin Chamber of Commerce, Urban Chamber of Commerce, Laughlin Chamber of Commerce, Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, and Henderson Chamber of Commerce.
