CCSD and LVGEA present Futuready Tours

You're invited to join this series of industry tours connecting our local business leaders with school programs and students

The Clark County School District (CCSD) in collaboration with the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA) is proud to present the Futuready Industry Tours, a series of industry-specific tours connecting local industry with Southern Nevada’s future workforce. These 90-minute tours provide industry leaders with an opportunity to connect with our local CCSD Magnet Schools and Career and Technical Academies to learn first-hand how our students are preparing for the workforce and to forge partnerships with the schools.

The first Futuready tour was October 29, 2015 at Southwest Career and Technical Academy (SWCTA) and will focus on manufacturing and engineering. It was the first of several tours scheduled throughout the school year that will focus on growing industries such as programming and robotics, digital media, unmanned aerial systems, and health care.

“It’s important to us that we not only graduate our students but also prepare them for success in college and career,” said CCSD Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky. “The achievements of our Magnet and CTA programs demonstrate how our students will play a significant role in our future workforce.”

As a critical partner to CCSD, the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance helps connect industry leaders with Magnet and CTE programs and works with numerous stakeholders to align workforce needs with school programs.

“As we look to recruit companies to Southern Nevada and help existing businesses grow, we know that the bright students at our Magnet and CTA programs are a huge asset for us,” said Jonas Peterson, CEO and President of the LVGEA. “When we talk about the workforce, companies need to know they’ll have a trained labor force not only today but also ten years from now. That’s why it’s very important for us to invite industry leaders into the schools to help foster long-term partnerships and working relationships that can ensure our students are ready for their future careers in Southern Nevada.”
