Jonas Peterson Steps Down as LVGEA President and CEO

Peterson Will Depart from LVGEA to Pursue New Opportunity

LAS VEGAS— After eight years at Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), Jonas Peterson announced Tuesday that he is stepping down from the position of President and CEO to pursue a new opportunity.

“Leading LVGEA has been the most fulfilling, exhilarating, and rewarding experience of my professional career,” said Peterson. “I simply couldn’t be prouder of the organization and culture our team has built together. LVGEA is now recognized among the most innovative and productive economic development organizations in the United States. We’re also well positioned for the future.”

Under Peterson’s leadership, the organization has performed at record-setting levels for assisted job creation, economic impact, attendance at key events, number of engaged partners, and financial reserves.

“The growth areas and anticipated revenue sources for our regional economic development work have never looked better,” he stated. “We have a powerful strategic plan that will set the course for years to come. And, perhaps most importantly, we now have a true alliance of community leaders that are fully engaged and supportive of economic development.”

Exciting opportunities lie ahead for the Southern Nevada community. After a record-setting year, the team at LVGEA will continue to capitalize on its current momentum to strengthen the regional economy.

“We hired Jonas to help us build a cutting-edge economic development organization with the capacity to transform Southern Nevada’s economy. That is exactly what he has done.” said Betsy Fretwell, LVGEA Board Chair. “Although he’ll be missed, I’m confident our important work will continue and excited about the opportunities ahead.”

Throughout the transition process, Peterson remains committed to the organization’s mission and will continue to support the team.

“I’m committed to ensuring a thoughtful and smooth transition,” said Peterson. “We have an incredible team in place, who are well-prepared and positioned to continue driving our important work. And, when the time comes, I know our Board will identify the right leader to build upon our momentum.”

LVGEA will continue to provide the community with more information as it becomes available.
