LVGEA Announces Global Smarter Cities Expert as Keynote

(Las Vegas) – The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance today announced that global smarter cities expert and general manager of IBM’s global Smarter Cities business, Michael Dixon, will be the keynote speaker at its annual dinner on Thursday, October 2 at the ARIA Resort and Casino.

The keynote speech will address how Las Vegas can capitalize on its position as a global city to spur economic growth and development.

“Las Vegas is a dynamic city with untapped opportunities for economic development, leadership and dynamic innovation,” Dixon said. “I’m pleased and honored to join the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance and share in its focus on economic development.”

Featuring remarks from Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance president and CEO Tom Skancke, the upbeat event will celebrate a year of success in economic development as well as highlight new initiatives that will propel economic and community development forward in the coming year. Dixon’s remarks will be an inspiring capstone to this evening of insight and celebration.

Dixon leads IBM’s vision, strategy and operations for multiple international teams working on wide-ranging projects in transportation, health, public safety, energy, utilities, social services, education, and urban management.

The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance annual dinner at the ARIA Resort and Casino, 3730 S Las Vegas Boulevard, will begin with a VIP reception at 5:00 p.m., a cocktail hour at 5:30, and dinner from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
