LVGEA Taps Baton Rouge ED Director Jared Smith as COO

LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance today announced that Jared Smith has been appointed to the position of chief operating officer.

In his position, Smith will assume a leadership role in the organization’s economic development, planning, operations, partnership building and strategy.

“Having Mr. Smith join our team speaks volumes about the caliber and direction of our organization,” said LVGEA president and CEO Jonas Peterson. “His notable experience and background will be invaluable as we continue our push to become one of the most productive and influential economic development organizations in the western United States. I’m very pleased that the executive committee unanimously supported Jared joining our team and we are all thrilled to have he and his family join our community. This is a tremendous hire for Southern Nevada.”

Prior to joining the LVGEA, Smith served as director of business development for the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC). He received an MBA from Southeastern Louisiana University, bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University, served as the chairman of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport Commission, president of the East Baton Rouge Industrial Development Board, and is actively involved in the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
