The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA) recently approved five additions to its now 45-member Board of Directors. This is the largest C-level business board in Nevada, consisting of the region’s top public, private, business and community leaders who are helping the LVGEA work towards its mission of expanding and diversifying the regional economy.
The newest additions to the board include:
- Dave Cheval, President of OS National-NV, Title & Escrow
- Greg Gilbert, Partner at Holland & Hart
- Mike Jewel, Director of Network Service Operations at Century Link
- Yolanda King, County Manager and CEO of Clark County
- Cindy Ortega, Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at MGM Resorts International
“These additions will bring even more talented and influential members of the community to our growing Board of Directors,” said LVGEA President and CEO Jonas Peterson. “The leaders who represent the LVGEA on our Board play a key role, bringing important insights and diverse perspectives that will strengthen our mission of improving the local economy of Southern Nevada.”
The LVGEA is one step closer to reaching its goal for its “Drive to 50” campaign, an initiative that aims to assemble a diverse, knowledgeable and talented group of leaders who can contribute to industry diversification and community development projects that will benefit Southern Nevada.
Several new members expressed the importance of serving on the board:
“The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance helps to draw quality and diverse businesses to our community, strengthening the local economy,” said MGM Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Cindy Ortega. “A strong local economy is essential for Southern Nevada to continue to be a global hospitality and entertainment center.”
“An effective economic development strategy must focus on cultivating the skills of the area’s workforce, reducing the cost of doing business and making available the resources needed to compete and prosper in today’s global economy,” said OS National, Title & Escrow President Dave Cheval. “OS National is a proud supporter of the LVGEA and its strategic imperatives.”
“I am honored to join the committed and outstanding business leaders serving on the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance Board of Directors,” said Holland & Hart Partner Greg Gilbert. “The goals of Holland & Hart are in alignment with LVGEA’s vision to advance and strengthen our community’s economy.”
“The LVGEA is bringing good jobs to Southern Nevada. When this happens, all of the community benefits,” said Century Link Director of Network Service Operations Mike Jewel. “The organization’s results in 2016 are impressive, and I am excited at the prospects to build on that record for 2017.”
