Chris Heavey is the Interim President of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he leads the state’s largest public research university. In this role, he oversees the UNLV’s strategic direction, academic mission, and external partnerships to ensure the university remains a key contributor to workforce development and economic vitality in Southern Nevada.

A proud member of the UNLV community for over 30 years, Dr. Heavey has held a range of academic and leadership roles. While serving as the executive vice president and provost, he championed student success initiatives, expanded access to high-demand degree programs, and helped align the university’s academic offerings with the evolving needs of the local economy. As a professor of psychology and longtime Southern Nevada resident, Dr. Heavey brings a deep understanding of how higher education can drive regional growth and opportunity.
