Life Beyond The Strip

Las Vegas features award-winning schools, a thriving business community, and a lifestyle that blends excitement with opportunity.

You’ll Never Be Bored

Whether you’re a thrill seeker, an outdoor adventurer, an unabashed foodie, or a lover of the arts, Las Vegas makes boredom a foreign concept. Our year-round climate is perfect for those looking for an adventure basecamp. The region’s 24/7 vibe means opportunities flow non-stop, and whenever you’re in the mood for some fun, it’s right there waiting.

And all those celebrity chefs who dominate the Strip? They’re branching out into the suburbs, meaning a five-star restaurant may be right around the corner. Don’t make the mistake of reducing Las Vegas to a postcard you saw from 1989. When you look beyond the cliches, you’ll be amazed at the opportunities you’ll discover.

All this to say that the question, ‘what should we do today?’ is easily answered when you live in Las Vegas.

The list goes on and on.

World-Class Entertainment in Our Backyard

Located adjacent to the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, Allegiant Stadium is a technologically advanced, global events destination, conveniently located for both visitors and locals, fully enclosed, climate-controlled, and with a capacity of 65,000 for world-class entertainment.

The stadium project is expected to generate an economic benefit of $620 million annually while creating 6,000 permanent jobs in Southern Nevada.

Night Out on the Town

Las Vegas’ nightlife scene is famously vibrant and diverse, offering something for everyone. The city is most well-known for its world-class nightclubs and bars, which often feature top DJs and celebrity appearances. For a more relaxed evening, visitors can enjoy lounges and rooftop bars offering stunning views of the Strip.

For those who prefer not to hit the bars, every night offers hundreds of entertainment options, from Cirque du Soleil performances to shows by world-renowned artists and comedy shows. Downton on Fremont Street, the area buzzes with activity at night, with street performers, light shows, and a lively atmosphere keeping visitors and locals alike entertained well into the early hours of the morning.

Explore Las Vegas Nightlife Like a Local

Tourists picture Las Vegas nightlife as non-stop clubbing, celebrity DJs, and neon-soaked casinos. But locals know there’s much more to Las Vegas nightlife than nightclubs. Living here means access to the same world-class entertainment, plus local gems tourists rarely find—hidden speakeasies, neighborhood lounges, and outdoor nightlife like desert stargazing.

In fact, those moving to Las Vegas should know how much more awaits beyond the Strip. Whether you’re looking for upscale vibes, laid-back beer joints, a sophisticated lounge experience, or a wine wonderland, we have you covered in our Las Vegas nightlife guide for locals.

Festival Fever

Las Vegas hosts some of the nation’s largest festivals, ranging from music and arts festivals to culinary and cultural celebrations. The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is a three-day electronic dance festival that takes place every spring at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, attracting more than 500,000 attendees. The iHeart Radio Music Festival brings together pop and hip-hop artists each fall at T-Mobile Arena. And Life is Beautiful hosts a two-day dance party in the Las Vegas Arts District.

The region also hosts dozens of more locals-centric festivals, including the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival that takes over Sunset Park every October. There are also the Italian food-themed San Gennaro Feast and the Las Vegas Food and Wine Festival. And the City of Las Vegas each year hosts Helldorado Days, celebrating the city’s western roots.

Music, Food, and Culture Beyond the Tourists

Las Vegas festivals offer more than just entertainment—they give a real sense of the diverse communities and culture in Southern Nevada.

If you’re thinking about moving to Vegas, whether for business or a fresh start, these events show off the city’s history and heritage. Beyond the Strip, you’ll find food festivals, cultural celebrations, and family-friendly gatherings that make living here exciting year-round.

Shopping Scene

Las Vegas’ shopping scene can be summed up in one word: “luxury.” The city boasts upscale shopping centers like The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and The Shops at Crystals, featuring high-end brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel. For international visitors, there are opportunities for duty-free shopping in certain stores and malls. For visitors on a budget, the Las Vegas North and South Premium Outlets offer discounted prices on designer and brand-name merchandise.

Thanks to the region’s pleasant year-round climate, the city has also embraced the outdoor mall concept, and the locals love it. Downtown Summerlin is a walkable mixed-use project that includes office buildings, shopping, and dining. Town Square in the central part of town features parks and water features alongside a million square feet of retail space. And The District at Green Valley Ranch offers 40+ shops and restaurants.

Culinary Cravings

If you’re a foodie, then you’ll love living in Las Vegas. With more than 50 celebrity chefs calling our city home, we’re now a culinary powerhouse, claiming the top spot for most celebrity chefs per capita in the world. The best news for Las Vegas locals is many of these celebrated chefs are branching out and opening independent restaurants in some of the city’s sleepier neighborhoods, meaning locals don’t have to look far for their next fine-dining experience.

Las Vegas is also becoming known for its diverse ethnic food options, which may not come as a surprise given the region’s diverse population. The city’s Chinatown, located a short drive west of the Strip, is getting recognition as one of the top in the country, offering more than 150 restaurants, 40 massage spas, and six Asian supermarkets, and is the focus of a redevelopment plan to create a more walkable neighborhood. The city also offers a range of cuisines, including Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Indian, and Middle Eastern.

Arts & Culture

You might be surprised to learn that Las Vegas has a thriving arts and culture scene, but we do! The Las Vegas Arts District, near downtown, has been a staple within the arts community for decades. The district is home to many of the city’s art galleries, studios and boutiques, and thousands of visitors come through every month during the First Friday arts festivals. The city also has more than a dozen museums, including several focusing on Vegas-themed topics, such as The Mob Museum, the Neon Museum and the Atomic Testing Museum.

The city leveled up its arts and culture cred in 2012 when The Smith Center for the Performing Arts opened as the city’s first truly locals-focused performing arts center. The center is home to a number of touring Broadway shows each year, along with performances by the Las Vegas Philharmonic and Nevada Ballet Theatre.

Family Friendly Living

Adults aren’t the only ones who get to have fun in Las Vegas. The city offers dozens of family-friendly attractions and events perfect for all ages. Local kids don’t have to go on vacation to enjoy the Adventuredome at Circus Circus or the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay – for them, it’s just another afternoon.

Take your family downtown for a morning at the Discovery Children’s Museum, followed by an afternoon playground session at the Downtown Container Park. Stop by the Springs Preserve for a kids’ gardening class or the Silverton Casino to see the live mermaids in their aquarium. And both kids and parents will love dropping quarters into the machines at the Pinball Hall of Fame. With new attractions opening every month, your kids will never be bored!
