Bella+Canvas Opens State-of-the-Art Distribution Center in North Las Vegas
Bella+Canvas, a leading manufacturer of wholesale clothing and apparel in the U.S., recently celebrated the grand opening of a state-of-the-art distribution center in North Las Vegas, creating several hundred new jobs in the region.
North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown welcomed the company to the region at the May 16th opening celebration.
“If you know me, shopping is what I do, so this is going to be dangerous for me,” joked Mayor Goynes-Brown.
The mayor added that over the last decade, North Las Vegas has focused on attracting new businesses to diversify the city’s economy, and that Bella+Canvas is one example of the growth the city has seen.
“We’re not just celebrating the opening of this building, we’re also celebrating the company’s creation of new jobs that offer sustainability to North Las Vegas residents,” said Mayor Goynes-Brown.
The new 720,000 square foot warehouse facility is fully operational and equipped with a sophisticated, three-level pick mezzanine. It replaces a previous distribution center in Los Angeles, where the company was founded.
“Our company grew up in California, and we’d been there for 30 years, so it wasn’t a decision made lightly to move the company,” said Norm Hullinger, Chief Operating Officer of Bella+Canvas.
Hullinger noted the company did a complete west coast survey when they were looking for a location to expand. The company looked at Fresno, Reno, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City, but North Las Vegas came out on top.
LVGEA assisted the company with receiving state tax abatements in June 2022, helping solidify the company’s decision to move to Greater Vegas.
“North Las Vegas has been amazing to work with,” said Hullinger. “Everyone from the economic development team to the mayor, to the inspectors, they’ve all been amazing. In the 40+ years I’ve been in the distribution industry, we’ve never had something go as smoothly as this center. In the span of 15 months, we went from dirt to what you see here today.”
Hullinger noted that despite talks of a possible recession, the retail business has remained strong and both the Bella+Canvas and Alo brands are doing good business.
“Our Aloo brand has been going crazy, so we’re actually going to be opening a store here in Las Vegas at the Forum Shops,” said Hullinger. “This building is the first of what we hope will be several buildings to open in this region.”
North Las Vegas Councilwoman Ruth Garcia-Anderson, whose district includes the new facility, also spoke at the opening, and thanked the company for choosing North Las Vegas.
“Bella + Canvas is a great company, doing great things in a great city, and that is a formula for success, and we wish you the best,” said Garcia-Anderson.
