Several dozen private trade and technical schools in the Las Vegas region focus on hands-on training and offer professional certification and two-year associate degrees.

Trade schools often offer students a quicker route to a new career without the student loan debt that can come with a traditional higher education degree. Nevada Career Institute: A leader in health education in Nevada since 1993, Nevada Career Institute offers affordable training programs in career paths for medical assistants, surgical technology, medical insurance billing, and massage therapy.

Carrington College: With campuses across the Western U.S., including a Las Vegas location near Harry Reid International Airport, Carrington College offers flexible learning options for students in several medical and dental programs as well as an associate degree in nursing.

Northwest Career College: A family-owned and operated vocational college offering degrees and certificates in business administration, criminal justice, healthcare administration, massage therapy, and legal assistance. The college offers two locations in Las Vegas and Henderson, with a third coming soon in East Las Vegas.

Pima Medical Institute: With locations in eight western states, the school’s Las Vegas location opened in 2003 and provides students with hands-on learning opportunities in the dental, medical, and veterinary fields.

Aviation Institute of Maintenance: The institute has a network of campuses across the nation and provides its Las Vegas students with hands-on training in aviation maintenance programs at a location near Harry Reid International Airport.

American Contractors Institute: Nevada’s only locally owned and operated online contractor’s exam test prep school. The institute is licensed in nine states and provides low-cost contractor insurance and license bonds.

National Technical Institute: NTI has locations in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Houston, offering trade education for HVAC technicians, electricians, and plumbers. The institute works directly with companies to provide job placement to students.

Advanced Training Institute: This Las Vegas-based school trains students for industry-recognized certifications as HVAC technicians, electricians, automotive technicians, and personal fitness trainers, offering both day and evening courses.

United Education Institute: UEI College has campuses in five states and specializes in providing short-term vocational and technical career training for students looking for positions in healthcare, business, and trades such as HVAC, automotive, electrical, welding, and criminal justice.

Professional Institute of Technology and Accounting: A locally owned and operated school, PITA offers students a variety of programs in accounting, bookkeeping, project management, information technology, AutoCAD, green technology, and computer skills.

Las Vegas Dental Assistant School: The school’s 12-week program includes weekly, hands-on labs at a local dental office paired with interactive online learning, and also includes an externship requirement.

Las Vegas Medical Assistant School: The school provides hands-on learning taught by professional instructors with years of experience in the field. The 24-week program includes practicing in a medical office setting and an 80-hour externship requirement.

Tower Training Academy: Based in Henderson, the school provides training and certification for wind turbine technicians. The 240-hour course teaches students about the maintenance and repair of wind turbine equipment, as well as industry safety standards.

Solairgen: This ‘school of solar technology’ offers accredited online and hands-on solar panel installation and maintenance training courses covering basic to advanced concepts. The school is an IREC-accredited/NABCEP-approved training organization that has been operating since 2007.

Tech Impact: The non-profit organization offers training programs to Las Vegas students interested in careers in IT support and call center assistance. Their IT Works program offers certifications preparing students for help desk, end-user support, and field technician roles. The CXWorks program offers an 8-week training course in customer experience.

CAE: Overlooking the runway at Harry Reid International Airport, CAE operates a 50,000-square-foot training center in Las Vegas to train private pilots. The facility houses seven flight simulators, representing Bombardier, Embraer, and Gulfstream aircraft.

Carpenters International Training Center: The largest and most comprehensive training facility of its kind in the world, the ITC develops and improves the skills of members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Located in central Las Vegas, the 1.2 million square foot campus provides leadership and technical training to 15,000 members from across the globe annually.
